Catherine Zeta-Jones gave her husband the surprise of his life and feared that it almost ended his life.
During a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Zeta-Jones explained that Douglas was in France filming a new show “like a lifetime” and how she got together with her kids to surprise him on vacation. He called the surprise, “one of those big, big, big moments.”
“I and the children surprised him for thanks. He had no idea. Carys, my daughter, flew from the East Coast. I was here with my son, we flew from here, entered the hotel, under the cover of night. ,” Zeta-Jones explained. “He came home from work and we were. It was one of those, I thought he was going to have a heart attack for a minute. He kind of freaked out and went, ‘Oh my God,’ and started crying. It was one of the best, best, best moments.”
Zeta-Jones, 53, and Douglas, 78, have been married for 22 years after first meeting in 1998.

“My husband is 25 years older than me; it’s no secret,” the actress told The Wall Street Journal in April 2021. “With any relationship, it wouldn’t be normal if there weren’t ups and downs. love, respect. We’ve never lost our sense of humor, and we enjoy each other’s company .”
In August 2013, Zeta-Jones and Douglas announced their separation.
The breakup lasted eight months, and the couple reunited in April 2014. At the time, Douglas said, “I’m crazy about him. And, of course, I think every couple has their ups and downs.”
Zeta-Jones looked to her parents’ marriage as a “blueprint” for what a successful marriage looks like, saying that she found it important to be open and honest with your partner.
“I think it’s unbelievable to me that you’re going to be with the same person for 18 years, and things aren’t going well every day. It’s not,” he told the “Today Show” in 2017. “My mom and dad were married for 52 years, and it was a plan It’s the best for me, because I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly with them, and they’re still going strong.”
The actor of “Wednesday” recently announced to “Good Morning America” that the troops, except for two of them, are better at giving gifts. He had no problem accepting that Douglas would take the award, joking that he “went up eight years.”
“If I knew we were going to be married for a long time, I would have held back on it. I wasn’t imagining it for a 22-year-old. This is Hollywood, man,” he joked to Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan and George. Stephanopoulos.

Zeta-Jones revealed that her husband is good at choosing jewelry, saying that “it’s something that I really love and appreciate” because of “the emotional value, obviously.”
Eight years into their marriage is the year Zeta-Jones thinks she gave the best gift – an old school hot rod.

“It’s a hot rod that he got a chance to call – a 1930s coupe,” he clarified before speaking to the camera. “I’m going to screw it up Michael, I’m sorry. It looks like Bugsy Malone’s little car. … It’s so cute. And then I got on! It’s been socks ever since.”
