Building and promoting community through visual arts. The work of SAGE Community Arts is one that I may be biased towards but I truly believe in it. Our latest show in the Exhibition Gallery is “Wyoming Waters: Small Working Watermedia.” This show is everything SAGE strives to be through our work.
When working to put together the art call for the “Wyoming Waters: Small Works” show, it was important to have few restrictions for artists to submit images for the exhibition. The expectation of the art call stated that the work that needs to be created within the last two years, must be in water-based media (watercolor, gouache, acrylics, etc.) cannot exceed 20 inches in height or width, inclusive. frame, and that there were only 40 places available to start coming.
It was decided that no fees would be charged, and there would be no membership requirements for SAGE. By removing these restrictions, we were able to make this exhibition a reality in the community and an exhibition open to all artists who work or are interested in water media.
Another goal of the show was to encourage artists to place their piece at the right time to show it in the best possible way. To provide an educational opportunity to be a gallery ready with the prices of their paintings, to have a role in art exhibitions (made or finished canvas) and to work through communication with the gallery. “Wyoming Waters” is, for some of the artists, the first time they have ever shown in a gallery or even the first time they have created their work, allowing it to reach a good completion.
“Wyoming Waters” is an exhibition featuring 38 different artists who are connected through water-based media. The subject matter ranges from beautiful weather to dramatic scenes to contemporary emotional portraits.
As with any of the exhibitions or art calls at SAGE, it is always surprising to see how the work connects and connects, even if none of the artists created together. Therefore putting on an exhibition in a gallery was a rewarding creation. The pieces all fit together, enhancing everyone’s work.
“Wyoming Waters: Small Works Watermedia” will be on display through Nov. 26. The reception of the authors will be Nov. 3 from 5:30-7:30 pm I encourage everyone to stop in and see the show and how beautiful it is. the combination of water diversity, and how it builds and inspires communities through visual arts.
