Winter E3, also known as The Game Awards, will be shown next week and people are excited about what will be revealed during the three-hour collection of trailers and awards. But if you are happy with the new Mortal Kombat or Injustice 3 to make a surprise appearance, well, you may want to sit down. I have bad news to share.

During The Game Awards 2018, The NetherRealm is revealed Mortal Kombat 11 in the world with a brilliant cinematic trailer. Now, four years have mysteriously passed, fans are left wondering where the studio’s next game is. In the past, studio art director Ed Boon would pop in every two years or so to announce his next big game. But that hasn’t happened yet, and there are some players who are getting more and more worried as the longest wait between NetherRealm projects grows by the day. Therefore, many began to look to the December Game Awards for hope. Some say that in 2018, Boon and co. they will use the annual show to unveil their next big thing. But for Boon himself, that doesn’t happen.

Earlier today, Boon wrote on Twitter that although he enjoys the excitement fans have for the studio’s next game, they are not ready to announce anything yet.

“Four years ago at the Game Awards we were able to make an unexpected announcement MK11, which was great,” Boon tweeted. “Perhaps it is very good, as many thought that we will repeat that strategy in our next game. Thank you for your interest, but we are not yet ready to announce the next NRS game.”

Yes, even a clear and unambiguous message of “No, we are not announcing the following. Injustice or Mortal Kombat next week, I’m sorry,” some people still hope he’s not telling the whole truth. And in their defense, Ed Boon has been known to abuse his online fans and mess with them using memes or jokes. But here, it seems that really, super duper doesn’t want people to be happy for nothing.

If you really wanted to you could read his tweet and find a moving site that would allow, like, the studio isn’t ready to announce its next game yet…but it’s ready to release! Then NetherRealm and WB stealth-drop MK12 or Injustice 3. But I won’t buy that wild theory because it will end up with you being depressed and sad if it doesn’t happen. However, if you decide to stay at The Game Awards anyway, you could end up winning a free Steam Deck for your trouble. No MK12but what?
