
Tech is in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, and with that, there there are plenty of activities and destinations within walking distance. To choose housing that best suits Tech students’ needs and preferences important, so the place is important. While students are at Tech to learn and grow, time spent off campus is equally important.
Here’s a guide to living near Tech that highlights entertainment and other important places that every Tech student should know about, especially if they’re planning to move to the city.
Midtown
The Standard
The Standard is located in Midtown and is within walking distance of university related areas such as Tech Square and the CODA Building, which has some great places to dig down, from Asian fusion to a classic slice of pizza. As for entertainment, The Standard is within five minutes of some of the attractions of Atlanta, such as the Fox Theater, which shows a variety of music and music.
The Mark
Located within a 5-minute walk from the Midtown MARTA Station, The Mark is an apartment complex with access to many dining options and activities. Just one MARTA stop away is the Arts Center, with attractions like the High Museum of Art and The Woodruff Arts Center.
The Mark is located near Peachtree Street, which has many restaurants such as Anh’s Kitchen and Blue India, as well as other great places to get sweets like Sweet Hut, an Asian grocery store and a boba store with something for everyone to enjoy. Consider visiting the dog park at Piedmont Park, getting breakfast at The Flying Biscuit, and then heading to Peachtree Street for more fun!
West Campus
West Campus Student Housing
These student residences (Zbar, Maulding, Nelson Shell, Woodruff, Center Street, Eighth Street, Crecine) are within walking distance of Atlantic Station, an outdoor shopping center that hosts a movie theater, bowling rink, shops and restaurants. There are often local events such as live music, yoga sessions and markets promoting local vendors. Students can also take the free Atlantic Station Shuttle to visit music venues like The Loft and Center Stage. There is also another shopping area called The Interlock within walking distance from the Flats, which includes a mini golf course called Putshack, a mini bowling alley and a drinking area called The Painted Duck and many restaurants and shopping.
Home Park
Located near west campus, Home Park is a residential area with lots of beauty and within walking distance of local favorites like Rocky Mountain Pizza and Anticos. Rocky Mountain Pizza is a great place to grab a slice of pizza and stick around for their trivia nights and live music events. For something sweet, be sure to stop by Sublime Donuts, a donut shop open 24/7 with a wide variety of delicious treats.
North Avenue
The North Avenue Apartments have the advantage of being close to some of Atlanta’s most important attractions, such as the Country of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium and the Centennial Olympic Park. The North Avenue MARTA Station is a short walk away far away, students live here be a quick and easy way to get to the hot spot of events. It is also close to one of the largest event venues in Georgia, the State Farm Arena, which hosts a variety of events.
