Fantasy Premier League: Foden an issue, Salah makes sense but hold off on Newcastle

Week 15 was the penultimate week before the World Cup hiatus and it was another week full of excitement. We saw 37 goals scored and a lot of drama.

Arsenal advanced in the London derby, and Manchester City beat Fulham with a penalty kick in the 95th minute, despite dropping to 10 players.

As always, there was a lot to talk about, but I’ll cover the main talking points and how they affect us going into Gameweek 16.

Foden and Halland off the bench

It was the main talking point Phil Foden (£8.4 million) Sit on the bench for the third consecutive game in the league.

Several coaches brought him to Manchester City’s great match streak, and it was a good move. No one would have expected Pep Guardiola to call him a bench for three league games on the trot, especially when he was playing so well considering the fact that he started him in all of his previous 10 league games.

Those of us who still have him have a decision to make now, although City have another great game at home to Brentford in Round 16. I think it’s very dangerous to hold on to Foden despite the nice game. With only a week left before the World Cup we have to be aggressive and I don’t think risking one more point from Foden off the bench is worth it.

Moreover, there are plenty of alternatives to it with good formulations this week.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.5 million) He scored a goal and made 12 FPL points while playing for Nottingham Forest this week. Steve Cooper’s men conceded 30 goals (second most) with a projected goal conceded (xGC) of 23.35 (17).

Zaha has also played the attacking role in the last week, and is often the most forward player on the pitch with Palace and is sure to start. It’s also subject to penalties, so it’s a good option in Gameweek 16.

Leandro Trossard (£7.0 million)And the Marcus Rashford (£6.7 million) And the Bukayo Saka (£8.0 million) They are also great potential alternatives to Foden. They will surely start playing for their clubs and have good equipment.

Trossard’s Brighton play a home game against Aston Villa, who immediately appear to be in a better squad under new coach Unai Emery. However, Roberto de Zerbe’s side have been in good shape and have scored eight goals in their last three matches. Trossard has seven goals and three assists this season and is the best choice among the Brighton team.

Rashford is also enjoying a great game from an attacking perspective – Fulham conceded the fourth most goals (24) and have the worst xGC in the league (25.99), and while Manchester United weren’t too impressive against Villa yesterday, they had a fantastic performance. A fixture to bounce back here.

Saka made a comeback in the last week with one assist and now has four goals and seven assists. Arsenal have been fantastic and have a good game against Wolverhampton. The English midfielder has the goal and assist threat and is the one who takes the penalty shootout.

Erling Haaland (12.1 million pounds) Guardiola was also on the bench but that didn’t stop him from scoring in 26 minutes. He could easily have had a second too, after the VAR disallowed his goal due to a marginal offside.

He’ll definitely start against Brentford now he’s fit again and if I was one of the managers who dumped him in the last few weeks I’d make him a transfer priority. He will be the captain’s top pick for the game this week, and with Norway not at the World Cup there are unlikely to be any early substitutions or distractions for him.

Liverpool and Salah return to the competition

Liverpool scored an impressive away win over Tottenham on Sunday. Mohamed Salah (12.7 million pounds) And the Darwin Nunez (£8.9 million) Both are on the points and are great options for Jamwick 16 as Southampton head to Anfield after having just parted ways with Ralph Hsenhuttl.

I would look forward to getting at least one of them for this week because they are among the best options.

Harry Kane (£11.6 million) He was also on the scorers list again for Tottenham in that match, scoring his eleventh goal of the season. He also has a great match, against Leeds United at home.

All of the above are options that I would advocate, but can be difficult to fetch due to their price points. If you can get it for free, I highly recommend it and those with two free conversions will be in an excellent position to do so.

A more affordable option that is a great gamble for Gameweek 16 is Ivan Perisic (£5.5 million).

He’s rated as a defender in the FPL but in the absence of Son Heung-min he played in second place with Kane yesterday. It was a pity not to score, and he hit the woodwork twice. His average position map also showed that he was the most advanced player on the field, even before Kane.

With a full week rest, he should start against Leeds too, and very likely he will be used in that advanced position again.

Tottenham face a Carabao Cup match away to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, but I doubt he will play at that time and should get approval for the league match instead.

Newcastle continues to run impressively

Newcastle are back on top once again, crushing Southampton 4-1 to close the door under Hasenhuttl. However, as good as it was, I’m still avoiding buying their assets this week because they have a game against Chelsea.

If you already own Kieran Trippier (£5.9 million)And the Miguel Almiron (£ 5.7 million) or Callum Wilson (£7.5 million)I will keep them, but I will avoid buying any of their teammates. Wilson is the one to watch because he was dislocated half the time yesterday due to illness, but should be fine after another week’s rest.

Newcastle options are not bad Choose but I think there are several options this week with good combinations that we can choose instead that offer a higher elevation.
