Hugh Grant Confirms He Is ‘Married to James Bond’ in ‘Knives Out’ Cinematic Universe

While the debate about who will take 007 in the renewal of the franchise continues, Hugh Grant seemed to ask the question: Why not portray the first king James Bond?

The “Love Actually” alum teased that he’s married real Bond in Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” with his cameo opening the door for further appearances in the franchise. Daniel Craig plays Detective Benoit Blanc in the mystery film, with Grant doing his part as Blanc’s husband.

“It’s true, I’m married to James Bond,” Grant told Collider about her role in the Netflix film. “It’s a small time. I don’t really know why they wanted to do it but anyway, I thought ‘Knives Out 1’ was brilliant, and so yeah, I thought why? I’ll be back in a few hours. “…

Writer-director Johnson has previously shut down any speculation about the “Knives Out” prequel film showing Blanc’s story, instead choosing “a little bit of detail” in Blanc’s life, like Grant. Ethan Hawke, Natasha Lyonne, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and late icons Angela Landsbury and Stephen Sondheim also made cameos in the next film.

Johnson recently talked about keeping each film “standalone” within the “Knives Out” Cinematic Universe (the third season is already on Netflix).

“To be honest, I’m annoyed that we have the title ‘A Knives Out Mystery’. You know?” Johnson admitted to The Atlantic. “I want it to be called ‘Glass Onion.’ I get it, and I want everyone who liked the first movie to know that this is the next in the series, but then again, all the appeal to me is a new story off the shelf every time. But there is a thousand times more power in organized storytelling. “

“Poker Face” creator Johnson previously said in a press release that the show is a “personal, weekly mystery” that’s a channel for “the beauty I grew up watching. It’s my happy place.”

Lyon added, “What [creator Johnson] he does good, and his work is nothing but the heart.”
