Hulu is making a welcome bed for the Hill family: a rising river King of the Hill from 20th Television Animation, and producers Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are set to return, along with an old favorite cast.
Judge will reprise his role as Hank Hill, while Kathy Najimy will return as his wife Peggy, Stephen Root as Bill, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Johnny Hardwick as Dale and Lauren Tom as Minh. The reboot has been in the works since the 2017 San Francisco Sketchfest, where Judge and Daniels reunited with the cast and celebrated 20 years of the Fox animated show.
Saladin Patterson (Wonderful Years, The ultimate OG) will join the production as executive producer and showrunner. 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Howard Klein, and Bandera Entertainment’s Dustin Davis will serve as executive producers.
“We are all excited to welcome back Hank, Peggy and Bobby, and see what they have to say about the world we live in and continue the conversations we started years ago,” said Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu and. Disney Branded Television Series First, in a statement. “This show has everything right to meet this moment in animation on Hulu, and we are very grateful to have these conversations alongside this talented group.”

The show, set in the fictional Arlen, Texas, follows the life of Hank Hill, an enthusiastic salesman of propane and propane accessories; his wife, Peggy, a local Boggle champion and substitute teacher; and their 13-year-old son, Bobby, who does not expect his father to have a son. Hank’s friends – conspiracy theorist Dale, army barber Bill and the cool but silent Boomhauer (Judge) – along with Peggy Minh’s friends and meteorologist Nancy (Ashley Gardner), and Bobby’s friend Connie (Tom), help Hills navigate the changing world.

“Yeah, man I’ll tell you who the man is, that one called Ol’ Greg, he’s talking about OG and then Mike the Judge … Inspiration, man … the original show, dang ol’ classic … my wallet! I don’t know you!’ Feeling blessed, man, I tell you ‘Feel Good’ is a great song, I don’t care what no-dang-body says…” added Patterson in a fitting statement.
The Emmy-winning series ran for 13 seasons on Fox from 1997-2010 and is the top animated series on Hulu.
“I’m lucky to be part of this project from the beginning and I couldn’t be more excited to visit Arlen, Texas, again with Mike, Greg and Saladin, who together are bringing a new perspective to the original,” said Marci Proietto, senior vice president, 20 Television Animation. “We all want to thank the fans for their tremendous support because they helped make this happen, and I can’t wait to share this new iteration through the lens of 2023 America. In the words of our beloved Peggy Hill, Oh yeah!”
This isn’t the first Fox animated show that’s streaming this dust to new audiences; there’s a Futurama revival in the works for Hulu, too.
