Lauren Boebert live: Republican asks for donations for results recount Colorado election against Adam Frisch

Frisch challenges Bobert in a tight Colorado race

Lauren Bobert has asked for donations to support a possible recount of the results in her Colorado election contest against Democrat Adam Frisch.

The Republican’s appeal for financial support Friday afternoon said he was confident he would hold on to his House seat because the race for an unexpected upset was too close to call.

Asked by reporters Thursday if he expected to win the race, the Republican president responded: “Of course I expect to win. It will be better. “

Ms Bobert now leads by 1,122 votes in what is shaping up to be a surprisingly close race for the US House seat in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.

After trailing for most of the race, the Donald Trump ally returned to the lead on Thursday, now with 50.2 percent of the vote to Mr. Frisch’s 49.8 percent, with 99 percent of the vote reported.

If the victorious party fails to win by more than 0.5 percent, the race may automatically be recounted.

Colorado voters decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms

Colorado is the second state, after Oregon, to vote to establish a regulatory system for substances like psilocybin and psilocin, hallucinogens found in some mushrooms. The initiative, which will take effect in 2024, allows the advisory board to add other plant-based psychedelic drugs to the program in 2026.

Supporters argue that the state’s current approach to mental health has failed and that naturally occurring psychedelics, which have been used for hundreds of years, can treat depression, PTSD, anxiety, addiction and other conditions. Imprisoning people for nonviolent crimes that use naturally occurring substances costs taxpayers money, he said.

Critics warn that the ingredients have not been approved as drugs by the Food and Drug Administration. They argued that allowing “treatment centers” to operate and private personal use of the drugs would endanger public safety and send the wrong message to children and adults that the substances are healthy.

The move comes a decade after Colorado voted to legalize recreational marijuana after initially allowing its use for medical reasons, leading to a multibillion-dollar industry with hundreds of dispensaries across the state.

Bobert asks for recount donations

Lauren Bobert has admitted she may go for a recount in her race against Adam Frisch as she asks supporters for donations to help her.

“I’ve told you all year, the left will do everything they can to get rid of me,” the firebrand Republican wrote in a tweet.

“As this race comes down to every last vote, you need to help us make sure we have the resources to finish what we started!”

The appeal for donations came as Mr Frisch led by just 0.4 per cent at 1pm on Friday.

If the race drops to 0.5 percent, a recount occurs automatically.
