88. Mexico scores…but offsides again!
Oh no. Antona stands behind the Saudi defense (again), but the goal is not allowed due to offside (again). The green shirts keep coming. Funes Mori’s effort was then stymied immediately afterwards

82. Another free kick outside the penalty area…
Look at the pink shirts in attack… Mexico throws everyone forward. Chavez takes the free kick again after Abdoulaye Madu booked a cynical foul on Lozano.

79. Mexico has about a third
They are doing everything to get a third. In front of 84, 985 fans, Alois was stranded wide of his own goal but Uriel Antona’s shot topped. The most one-sided second half you’ll see…

Jimenez fairy tale?
Ah, Mexico has brought in the now powerful big striker, Raul Jimenez. It would be a great story Mexico almost scored again there. Lozano just skins his leg every time now.

76. Pineda runs away
Pineda was excellent tonight in the No. 10. He initially keeps the ball on the halfway line after a clever spin, before receiving the ball on the edge of the box but seeing his shot go wide. Grass slaps in frustration.
Saudi Arabia has definitely gone here. This win against Argentina seems a long time ago…

72. Oh my word… Chavez almost scored again!
Chávez whips it to the other side this time and to the left of the goalkeeper. He heads into the top corner but Al Owais makes a good save to avoid it. very close…

Saudi Arabia is everywhere
Saudi Arabia is everywhere. The Mexican fans are clearly watching the Argentina vs Poland game on their phones (kudos to Qatar’s mobile network, btw) and can feel the goals in both matches. w
We have a screen of the other game in front of us, so we’re watching the same images as them. that’s cool!

70. Was that the clincher? Mexico is trending…
Martin put his hands on his head. The curled ball falls to Martin, but he hits his putt 10 yards out. As it stands, Mexico will come away with three more yellow cards than Poland.

The news comes through…
Mexico fans received news of the Poland-Argentina match. It’s 2-0 to Argentina, so Mexico is tied at four points, on goal difference, and they both scored twice. Their match was 0-0. Yellow cards then! This is in favor of Poland …. I think!

66. Save a huge denial for Lozano
Lozano advances from the left and his shot close to the post cuts through the grass, but Alois falls well and catches it firmly. One goal from either match swings the set. This is captivating.
