Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Ups Nine-Month Sales 28% to $567 Million

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on February 2 disclosed that it brought in $567 million in revenue for the nine months ending December. 31, 2022. That is more than 28% from the 442 million during the previous year. Third-quarter revenue fell nearly 17 percent to $145,000 from $174,000 a year earlier.

Spider-Man: No Way Home It was the studio’s highest-grossing release of 2022 following the film’s electronic release on March 22, 2022, and the subsequent limited media release on April 12, 2022.

No Way Home was the highest-grossing sports release of 2021 and remains the No. 7 all time sports releases have grossed over $1.92 billion in ticket sales.

Overall, Sony Pictures’ operating income fell 83% to $197.4 million from operating income of $1.16 billion during the prior year period. Revenue fell 28% to $2.57 billion from $3.58 billion in the year-ago period.

Sony said that the operating income/deficit was due to unfavorable comparisons with the previous year’s quarter, which included Spider-Man: No Way Home and Poison: Let There Be Slaughter money, among other disclosures.

Sony’s top-grossing 2022 theatrical release, Unchartedit produced $400 million dollars worldwide, including $148.6 million in North American screens.
