A lot has happened to Star Wars franchise over the past 14 years that it can be hard to remember that the new canon started with Dave Filoni. Clone Wars cartoon. It was also added in the new Disney Star Wars story for being a good show with the help of a guy who will end up being the driving force behind it Star Warslive-action TV series. It can be even harder to remember that The Clone Wars it started with a movie—a movie released in theaters—it was absolutely terrifying.

The film, released in 2018, came together as it is when Lucasfilm director George Lucas saw a picture of a CG cartoon set in the middle. Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith and he was very pleased with it. He suggested the first strike Clone Wars episodes as well as releasing it in theaters. If you’re wondering, “Doesn’t that sound like four classes after school Star Wars cartoon smashed together instead of a real movie?” you’ve found its first fatal flaw.

While the second, third, and fourth episodes tell one ongoing story about the abduction of Jabba’s son in the Hutt, the first is a stand-alone story about Republic clones fighting a droid army that requires Anakin and his new padawan apprentice Ahsoka to hide in a box and crawl. walking down the street like they’re in a Looney Tunes cartoon (or Metal Gear Solid the game). It doesn’t matter, but the “main” story is just hard and feels even smaller in size.

Count Dooku stole Jabba Rotta’s infant son in a complex, futile plan to create a Jedi and get the criminal to allow the Separatist forces to use the trade routes of his center. The Republic also wants to get in on the trades, so they send Obi-Wan to talk to Jabba, while Anakin and Ahsoka look for the creepy little ball with hands that is Rotta, aka “Stinky.” What would have worked as a three-part cartoon becomes a mess when viewed back-to-back, as the “plots” quickly arise and resolve themselves. Obi-Wan leaves Tatooine to help Anakin, but Anakin is already gone when he gets there. Rotta is sick, but there is a cure in the Jedi commandeer’s unusual ship. A group of Grievous’ Magnaguards challenge Ahsoka on Tatooine, but she kills them easily.

Speaking of, Ahsoka has been one of the most popular characters to debut in an action movie, but I’m not exaggerating when I say she’s awesome in the movie. Clone Wars movie. It’s not the fault of voice actress Ashley Eckstein, who does the best with what she’s given. But what he was given was a dialogue written by 40-year-old men who are completely confident that they know how to talk to a 14-year-old girl. That’s bad. He calls Anakin “Skyguy” and R2-D2 – who already has a nickname – “Artooie.” She’s super confident and sweet and witty and smarter than everyone sometimes and dumb as a rock at others.

There is also Ziro, Jabba’s uncle, who is believed to be responsible for Rotta’s kidnapping. He comes off as a stereotype, speaking Galactic Basic (as opposed to Huttese) with a lisping, deep-seated Southern drawl, based directly on openly gay author Truman Capote. Zero is covered in glow-in-the-dark make-up, wears a feather on his head like a 1920s headband, and smokes from a long cigar holder. Now, even if you are offended by this if it is simple happy with the truth that 2008 Star Wars Having any kind of queer representation is up to you, but there is still the fact that George Lucas specifically requested that his children’s movie include a portrait of the author who died more than 20 years ago.

But it wasn’t like that Clone Wars just sticking to things that its young audience won’t know or care about. Clone Wars inspired by 1960s British marionette shows like Thunderbirds and Space Patrol. These were wooden puppets that looked and walked in rough, janky ways, that were lovingly designed and inexplicable in the 2008 cartoon. Sometimes, I swear you can see the wood in the solid pieces that made the colors.

Again, I believe, Clone Wars it got better, in the animation and storytelling departments. Now it’s being remembered for how he developed Ahsoka Tano into one of the most popular characters, how he made the Clone Troopers, the evolution of the Mandalorians, and so much more.. Well, until Dave Filoni created it. The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter Twoin which Stinky the Hutt returns to take his father’s throne.
