There’s not much you can do to customize your iPhone’s status bar other than showing or hiding the battery percentage icon. You can’t choose different icons or choose a bold color, but there is a secret trick that allows you to make all text stand out.
If you go to Settings -> Display & Brightness, you’ll see an option for “Bold Text,” but this is a system-wide setting, so most of the text you’ll see on your iPhone will be bold when you turn it on. . That’s not good if you just want to highlight text in your status bar.
Instead, go to Settings –> Accessibility –> App Settings, and tap “Add App.”
Search for and select “Home Screen,” then open the Home screen app settings.
Next, find the “Bold Text” option. Tap that, then select “On.” Unlike the Bold Text option mentioned above, this one only works on the Home Screen, not the entire app. For some reason, the status bar is tied to the Home Screen settings, so when you highlight the Home Screen, you also have highlighted text in the status bar.
On the Home screen, you’ll see a big difference between bold and bold text in the status bar.
Text in the status bar will also be highlighted everywhere, just like in other apps when it’s visible and in the Lock Screen, Notification Center, Control Center, App Library, and Transparent Search. Time and wireless carrier are bold priorities. The status bar icons will not appear differently unless they have text on them, such as when using the battery percentage on the battery icon.
Using bold text in your status bar also affects other things on your iPhone, so don’t be surprised if words and numbers are less prominent in some UI elements.
Text on your home screen will be bold, including all app, folder, and widget names, as well as text on other app icons (like the calendar). The text of quick actions will also change. The text inside the widgets may also change depending on the widget. For example, percentages in the Batteries widget will appear bold, while text in the Music and News widgets will not. You can hide the names of apps and folders to avoid bold text for those if it bothers you.
While text in Open Search won’t be affected, it will appear prominently for notifications on your Lock Screen and Notification Center, in other widgets in your Today View, and in the App Library.
