Half time: Both teams still scoreless

Despite the 0-0 score, the match between Argentina and Poland was thrilling. Argentina continued to create chances, but Szczęsny rose to the challenge, recording nine saves in the first half. Former USA goalkeeper Tim Howard holds the record for most saves in a World Cup match, with 15 in 2014.

Kamil Glik got a good header from a set piece for Poland, but his shot went just wide to find the Polish goal.

If the current score holds, Poland is still in a position to advance. However, Mexico took a 2-0 lead and almost scored a third goal, which was ruled out for offside. If Mexico leads 3-0, Poland will need another goal to advance as Mexico will tie Poland on goal difference but have the edge in goals.

Álvarez found the back of the net when he fired accurately into the top right corner to give Argentina a 2-0 lead.

Poland are still second in Group C, but only because of Fair Play points. Any goal scored in the final 20-plus minutes in either match will determine who advances between Poland and Mexico.

Lautaro Martínez was one-on-one with Szczęsny and had a golden opportunity to make it 3-0. His shot went wide to the left though.
